AirAsia's Big Sale goes international. Australia deports itself.

AirAsia has nipped the whiners in bud by extending their existing ‘Big Sale’ to their entire route network. Tickets from Gold Coast, Perth and Melbourne to Kuala Lumpur are again $99 including tax, however if you book the Kuala Lumpur – Australia leg separately (ie. as a second one-way segment), it comes to only $51 inclusive for this return leg! Thanks to this quirk in AirAsia’s currency exchange, tickets from Australia to Kuala Lumpur are $150 return including tax and are still in plentiful supply. Sale is on now until 16th August, for travel between 11 January to 31 July, however most of the cheap fares are from March, 2010 onwards.

Also note that Kuala Lumpur is an excellent stopover en route to AirAsia’s other destinations, including London! Return fares to London (Stansted) are selling for an unprecedented $650 return including tax. Adioso has the scoop. Personally, I booked a return fare from Gold Coast to Brunei via Kuala Lumpur for around $200 and you can certainly buy fares to Asia’s other resorts for a similar price.

Visit Adioso for fare availability and AirAsia’s sale page for details.

The happy stories that have erupted are countless, take a look at OzBargain for a handful of them as well as timely travel advice. This is certainly one of the most amazing sales I’ve seen this year, so get in there quick smart. Finally, make sure you pre-order the nasi lemak – it’s said to be delicious!
