Tiger Airways: Tweet-out to leave passenger feedback at Skytrax

Tiger Airways has appealed on Twitter for passengers to leave feedback regarding their in-flight experiences on Skytrax. Personally, I’m not sure this is such a great idea, as the feedback I tend to read the majority of the time on Skytrax tends to be slanted towards excruciating flight delays and timetable-change horror stories. In fact, if I were to read Skytrax prior to any flight, I’d most probably never make it to the airport.

The strange thing is, people can be very motivated to write kind words about hotels (thus the popularity of Tripadvisor), but hardly ever regarding transport. My theory on this is that despite the numerous ads depicting in-flight service as consisting of extremely-personal interactions with cheongsam-wearing sky nymphs, most people approach air travel with the same wet-palm trepidation as a trip to the dentist. Yes, that upcoming holiday sure is exciting, but lets not discuss the eight-hour gauntlet of check-in counters, random bumps and inedible bread rolls. Even flight-nerds like myself have a tendency to categorise air-travel as simply a functional task and thus, invisible. I have little emotion beyond, “Oh, it was a lovely flight” for experiences that go well, but for the rage that comes from the converse… Well, that’s what Skytrax is for.

Anyway, the call of a Tiger is strong. Do share your experiences, both good and bad on Skytrax, or simply share them with us below. Hope you have better luck with the bread rolls!
